Chicago, IL – First Tuesdays with The Midwest Independent Film Festival continue with an exclusive advance screening of the Michigan-made crime thriller Kill the Irishman, starring Christopher Walken, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ray Stevenson and an all-star ensemble cast, on Tuesday, February 1st at Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema, 2828 North Clark beginning at 6 p.m.
Film Synopsis:
The Irishman chronicles the rise and fall of infamous Cleveland gangster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson), who engaged in a power struggle with the Italian mob. Greene was as an upstart longshoreman union rep and later became a cocky, legendarily difficult-to-kill troublemaker in the world of organized crime in the 1970s. Based on the real story of mobster Danny Greene, Christoper Walken stars as loan shark and nightclub owner Shondor Birns and Val Kilmer co-stars as Joe Manditski, the Cleveland police detective who befriends Greene. The incredible ensemble cast includes Vinnie Jones, Marcus Thomas, Vincent Donofrio, Linda Cardellini, Laura Ramsey, Paul Sorvino, Mike Starr, Tony LoBianco, Vinnie Vella, Steve Schirippa, Jason Butler Harner, Robert Davi and Fionnula Flanagan. Executive produced by Cleveland, Ohio author Rick Porrello, whose book To Kill the Irishman: The War that Crippled the Mafia is the inspiration for this feature.
Screening Information: Tuesday, March 1, 2011 -- screening begins with a Pre-Show Cocktail Reception (sponsored by Heineken and Candid Wines) at Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema (2828 North Clark) at 6 p.m. The Producers Panel will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the theater. Kill the Irishman screens promptly at 7:30 p.m. A post-screening reception will be held immediately following the film at Forno Diablo, 433 West Diversey.
